Teachers’ Association Scotland – for Scottish Country Dance Teachers

Teachers’ Association Scotland, or TAS for short, is an organisation for teachers of Scottish Country Dancing (SCD). TAS exists to support and encourage continuing development of SCD teachers by providing opportunities to meet and exchange ideas and experiences. TAS offers the following opportunities to members.

  • Take part in specialist teacher workshops, held in various locations in Scotland.
  • Meet and network with other teachers: how are other teachers developing their skills and keeping their classes interested? Which new dances are keeping their classes interested? How do I teach that!?
  • Share information and stay informed through newsletters targeted at SCD teachers.

Membership is open to RSCDS members who teach, have taught, or plan to teach Scottish Country Dancing (it is not necessary to have a Provisional or Full certificate in order to join).

TAS has recently produced a new book of dances, Start Dancing!, aimed at Scottish Primary Schools, containing 24 really easy dances for children plus 8 ceilidh dances. The book is a free download to all Scottish schoolteachers – all they need to do is email Tas.secretary@mail,com
Anyone who would like a copy of the physical book can order from the same email address, cost is £10 (£5 for TAS members) plus postage.
The book can also be used for any children’s class, any adults’ beginners class and for warm-ups for any dance class anywhere. The 24 tracks on bandcamp costs only £12 (or £1 per track) plus VAT.
