Autumn 2024 Workshop and AGM

Our Autumn 2024 Workshop and AGM took place on Saturday 31 August 2024 in Broxburn.

In the morning, after our AGM Dave Hall explored the value of technique in fostering enjoyment of SCD. He was supported by musician Ian Muir. In the afternoon Dave Hall focused on teaching of advanced and very advanced classes. William Williamson (current RSCDS Chair) gave advice on the use of voice in teaching SCD then focused on exploring ways in which teachers can encourage dancers to return to their class week after week.

Spring 2024 Workshop

Saturday 20 April 2024

Our Spring 2024 workshop took place in Bridge of Allan, Stirling.

In the morning session Jimmie Hill focused on how to deliver CPD using the TAS publication “Start Dancing!” Two Stirlingshire Active Schools Co-ordinators informed participants about their role in encouraging schoolchildren to take part in Scottish Country Dancing. In discussion groups, participants discussed how to get children dancing and strategies they used when teaching children.

In the afternoon Lorna Valentine updated participants on the Scottish Schools Working Group. Deb Lees then led a session entitled The Difference a Tune Makes accompanied by David Oswald.
